Free School Meals
At The Pines Primary School, we want every child and family to receive all the support available to them. If you think your child may be eligible for Free School Meals, we would really encourage you to apply.
Even if your child is currently in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2 and already receives Universal Infant Free School Meals, it is still very important to register if you are eligible. This helps the school receive additional funding, called Pupil Premium, which allows us to provide extra resources, support, experiences and opportunities for children across the school.
Applying is quick, simple and completely confidential.
Your child may be eligible if you receive certain benefits, including:
- Universal Credit
- Income Support
- Jobseeker’s Allowance
- Employment and Support Allowance
- Child Tax Credit (without Working Tax Credit)
- Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act
Registering for Free School Meals can also help families access:
- Support towards school trips and visits
- Additional learning and wellbeing support
- Holiday activities and food programmes
- Other financial support that may become available
We know that many families do not realise they may qualify, so we would always encourage you to check. There is absolutely no stigma attached to applying and all information is treated sensitively and confidentially.
If you would like any help with the application process, please contact the school office – we are always happy to help
